Resources can be found throughout the world of Generation Zero. The player can come across them whilst scavenging for ammo or items, or as salvage from defeated machines. The game offers a wide variety of resources that serve vital purposes like the crafting of ammunition and equipment, Base Building, and upgrading the player's apparel and companion armor.
Crafting resources can be obtained in various ways, they can be found in loot crates and machines, or obtained through recycling weapons, attachments, binoculars, and vision modules. Certain resources can only be obtained by Base defense or Base Assault missions however, like Concrete (both) and Uranium (defense only). There are three classes of resources; common, munition, and rare. Common resources are obtained through a multitude of ways. Looting crates, recycling, or by looting machines, particularly Tanks, Harvesters, and similarly tough machines tend to drop more resources. Rare resources such as Aluminum and Titanium are harder to obtain as they can only be obtained by looting higher class machines (FNIX and Apocalypse class) or recycling items of three crown rarity or higher and vision modules. Tungsten in particular can only be obtained from Apocalypse class machines.
When the March 2020 update introduced crafting, the only crafting resources were: Adhesive, Plastic, Rubber, Steel, Textile, and Thread. However after the FNIX Rising Update (June 2020), three more materials were added: Aluminum, Titanium, and Tungsten.
